While I broadly agree with the sentiments, I think you're falling into the trap of blaming our failures on inexpensive and fairly irrelevant squad signings (ie the bargains). Rather than the expensive and important flops. Fonte and Snodgrass were not cheap either.

Selecting a clearly unfit Andy Carroll last night was ridiculous and smacks of desperation by Bilic, and seems all the more absurd when you have a bloke on the bench we paid £20mill for, who, we're told, is a striker.

Bilic needs to up his game and start improving his decision making, starting Saturday by dropping Feghouli and putting Antonio back in his best position. And if Carroll is not fully fit then start Ayew and give the bloke a bit of a boost.

And maybe, just maybe he should take a look at how we can manage without Mark Noble in the side for a couple of games.

......They are like someone on their way to Harrods who just can't walk past those pound shops and never actually reaches Harrods but spends half the amount they intended to on 10 items instead of the one quality one they set out to buy.

.......boleyn, and then you have the smaller clubs to compete with too who are better run than us.
As you say they seem to think nust moving to a big stadium will do it, but it requires so much more than that as you say, like a bit of football nous, brains and vision.
They have no ldea what they are doing. Last summer they fucked up by as I said wanting too many players for their money instead of going for quality over quantity and slowly building a good team. Their answer this window was to suddenly announce that the latest policy is to buy " proven premiership players" so we end up a 33 year old CB and Hull's best player at 29 years of age (was he actually their best player?) spending very little in the process.
They will once again send out smoke signals in the summer to sell ST hinting at players like Sturridge and Hart but when it comes down to it won't spend the 50m it would take to get them both and will be once again tempted by the freebie and loan options and a 10m player.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
We haven't won anything for 37 years and it will be at least another 37 years before we do again. The problem is that the y think the move will push us up a level but the top six are already at that level and beyond in some cases so whilst they continue to attract the best players and managers and will continue to improve we will need to improve to stay more or less where we are. Unless we get a Mansour or an Abramovitch to come on board pay the piffling fines for FFP or whatever slap on the wrist the big boys get and pay top dollar above the big boys for players.

But next season will be more of the same, to put into context we will not be competing for Lacazette, Griezeman, Mbappe or Cavani, nope we will be in the £10-20m after the big boys decide who they don't want, so Sturridge, Deeny and players of their ilk so don't expect next season to be much different to this one.

They want 2 or 3 players for 30m instead of one, there is the problem, it's 2017 not 2010.
Net spend is misleading as we have had such a high turnover of players due to signing loads of dross who have no resale value who then need replacing 6 months or a year later. This illustrates my view that they have no nous, plan or system and no idea how to transform us into a bigger club.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
They've spent. Alex, but I mean in time they will be capable of spending much more. They are only allowed to spend so much, but that will go up. I'm not saying they will, or should, but the stadium move is too recent for them to do it this season.

>>> you can't be too pissed off that the spending hasn't started yet

Not picking on you particularly, but the attention span on this issue continues to be bewildering. The idea that we're not spending when actually we're in the top six on net spend over five years is absurd. We have to rid ourselves of this complete fallacy. The spending under Gold & Sullivan is unprecedented - it makes the failure to progress all the more galling.

We must stop repeating this lie.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
The point is they are clueless. No football nous, no vision or ambition, just a pair of spivs blagging it.
No amount of extra revenue is going to change that or do you really believe that they are capable of forming a plan, a system and ethos that will transform us into a top side?
I don't!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
To be fair to the owners, when they say the new bigger stadium will help us move up a level, I don't think they meant by the time this season is half way through. We've only just moved in there. The bigger gates will increase our spending power under FFP.

We will be, in theory, able to spend more as years go by......of course, this doesn't mean our owners actually will, but you can't be too pissed off that the spending hasn't started yet, when we haven't even finished our first season.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
It is the owners themselves who have gobbed off about us challenging the big clubs and becoming one. They moved us to a rented athletics bowl in Stratford for this purpose and it is them who have been crowing about marque signings and how well the move has gone financially, not the fans.
Their track record with Brum and now us is mediocrity and survival and it seems all their years in football has taught them nothing.
The reason why the smaller clubs and the bigger ones than us are doing better than us and have been for years now is because they are better run , not rocket science is it.
Therefore yes we do need new owners.

>>> Nobody is demanding instant success or that the owners go and spend hundreds of millions.

Sorry that's not true. Lots of fans seem to spend a lot of time on here doing exactly that. I've lost count of the 'we need richer owners', 'we must spend a lot more' arguments on this site. In fact you make that point The volume seems to have grown exponentially since the new stadium move too.

Yes we've won nothing for decades. But there are a catalogue of reasons for that. They're not all explained by the current nature of the premiership and our current situation - that's the topic now. Feeling sorry for ourselves is just not that relevant.

Yes we are underachieving based on what has been spent. We are going backwards I agree. That's the whole basis for trying to identify what the problems are and what the possible solutions are.

I've just read Sullivan's From the Boardroom shit. Unbelievable that he thinks we are just two players short of becoming a very very good side( or was there another 'very' in there?).

DELUSIONAL TWAT.

We are very very far from competing with the top boys and if he can't see that, there's no hope for us as long as he remains the owner.

Bollocks V.
We've won nothing for 37 years. Nobody is demanding instant success or that the owners go and spend hundreds of millions. I do expect us by now to be moving in the right direction though instead of going backwards without a plan and to have a first team and squad capable of at least competing with Everton instead of sitting in 11th place with dross like Stoke and WBA way above us.

Simply not good enough for a club with our resources, infact it's a failure.
The owners are not capable of anything else and if they were real fans who really cared about the club they would look for a buyer who can do better. It's time they looked in the mirror and admitted it instead of clinging on so that they can leave it to their kids.

I'm trying to understand your position. You just seem to want more and more money spent to buy success, but you're criticising the stadium move that is the logical next step to funding that approach. I honestly think attitudes like yours are a big part of the problem. We seem to have spawned a bunch of fans greedy for quick success who seem to feel entitled to demand it. Success, imo, should be earned, built. You don't buy it each Summer. I don't want what Chelsea have.

Stop being a TWAT, and see that i'm questioning that if they (these brilliant businessmen) knew the restraints AND that the Chelsea route is the only way historically to FILL consistently a 60,000+ stadium. Because sporadic SUCCESS (i.e.: a trophy every few seasons) is the only way to sustain a stadium of this size being filled.

WHY DID THESE GENIUS BUSINESSMEN MOVE? GREED is the only reason i can find.

At the same time we had more passes and more shots than the league leaders, so it wasn't all bad. I think that's the formation and style that we need to play going forward.
